The first Halloween 1978 movie, directed by John Carpenter and starring Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode, started a revolution in horror cinema as fans clamored for more of the man behind the mask. As his kill count continued to rise, Michael Myers, Halloween star extraordinaire, began to grow a little stale, as every new Halloween movie just seemed to dilute the formula. Even with his many deaths, though, it was hard to keep Michael Meyers down, which is why there is always a Halloween reboot or a Halloween remake just around the corner. The first of the rebooted Halloween movies was the Rob Zombie Halloween 2007, an admirable effort that was followed up with a Rob Zombie Halloween 2, but after we soured on that interpretation, it was time for an all new Halloween reboot. Halloween 2018 is a return to form for the masked killed, and the cult developments of the past films were explained by simply ignoring every Halloween movie except the first. From the first Halloween trailer, Halloween clip, and Halloween scene, we knew that this was the Michael Myers move we’ve been waiting for, and it delivered in spades.
